Class Experience

Hello! I am 琳老师 Lin Laoshi and I will help your child learn Chinese Mandarin through the form of art!

Starting with the basics, this class aims to teach students how to introduce themselves in Chinese Mandarin using a self-portrait they make! This encourages students to become creative and broaden their vocabulary in order to communicate their thought processes.

Students will learn simple phrases such as:
- 你好,我叫。。。(Nǐ hǎo, wǒ jiào. .) (Hello, my name is...)
- 我来自。。。。(Wǒ láizì....) (I am from ....)
- 我喜欢。。。颜色!(Wǒ xǐhuān. . . yánsè!) (I like the color(s)....)
- 我的爱好是。。。。 (Wǒ de àihào shì....) (My hobbies are...)
- 我喜欢。。。。音乐! (Wǒ xǐhuān.... yīnyuè!) (I like ....... music!)

In turn, students will also get to learn how to ask others:
- 你叫什么名字?(Nǐ jiào shénme míngzì?) (What is your name?)
- 你从哪里来的? (Nǐ cóng nǎlǐ lái de?) (Where are you from?)
- 你喜欢什么颜色? (Nǐ xǐhuān shénme yánsè?) (What color(s) do you like?)
- 你的爱好是什么? (Nǐ de àihào shì shénme?) (What are your hobbies?)
- 你喜欢什么样的音乐? (Nǐ xǐhuān shénme yàng de yīnyuè?) (What kind of music do you like?)

Of course, this class welcomes ALL beginner students and students will be provided the vocabulary (i.e. names of colors, countries, hobbies, etc.) to help them formulate their sentences in Chinese.

**This class primarily focuses on SPEAKING and PRONUNCIATION in order kickstart young learners' confidence level in Chinese Mandarin! By the end of class, students will have created beautiful self-portraits and use integrated Chinese vocabulary terms to guide them to showcase their artwork!**

**In the video, I go over the four ESSENTIAL tones in Chinese Mandarin. You can see how I break them down!**

Because this is an online class, please prepare art tools and drawing paper for your young learners.

I strongly recommend using the Printable Character Practice Sheet provided to help guide them when writing the Chinese characters.

For those who want WRITING practice, I put all of the Chinese vocabulary terms/phrases prepared in a file called: Chinese Vocabulary 123! for you to download and print out for your child.
