Beginner Level
In this self-paced course, children will be introduced to some great artists (Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Michelangelo, and Paul Klee to name a few) and have opportunity to create their own masterpieces using inspiration and information gained from these artists. These lessons combine art appreciation and art making for the child that is developmentally appropriate. In the first portion of each lesson, the power-points delve into artists lives, and look at some of their famous works. Learners are reminded to take notes on information gained for short quizzes that are presented throughout the course to evaluate their understanding of key artistic contributions associated from these artists. Time is allocated each lesson for children to create their own works of art, inspired by the famous artists highlighted. This course offers a lot of painting exploration, as well as the opportunity to explore sculpture and abstract drawing and collage. Each lesson will focus on one great artist, and use various art materials, such as acrylics, oil pastels and charcoal pencils, canvases, paper and air-dry clay. A resource list for possible supplies will be provided each week as well as suggested materials to use for art projects. A certificate of completion is provided upon request after this course. Please keep in mind this is a self-paced course, and your learner can complete the lessons on a schedule that works best for them. I will be available via email to contact for any questions or help along the way. I will try my best to respond to and return emails within a week.
Learning Goals
Learners will develop their sense of imagination and creativity while exploring weekly art projects based on their inspirations from each great artist of the week.
Learners will gain an introduction to some of the great artists that have produced work through the ages.
