Beginner Level
This summer preschool and kindergarten music class is a joy-filled, interactive class. It will be taught in a self-paced format - there will be no live meetings for this class. One 20-30 minute video will be sent to students for four weeks. The students will have the opportunity to interact and share work with the teacher by submitting videos and pictures. Children will learn how to be tuneful with their voices, keep a steady beat, and express themselves through music. This class is designed to be developmentally appropriate for early childhood. In this introduction to music, each summertime video will include the following: -Steady beat movement to classical movement and simple songs -Vocal exploration and warm-up -Echo singing to practice singing in-tune -Singing simple songs -Fingerplays and action songs for expression -Artful movement to classical music and folk dances -Listening to beautiful musical stories All activities will be performed with different weekly themes: Week 1: Playing Outside Week 2: Nature and Animals Week 3: Beach Fun Week 4: Summer Weather These pre-recorded lessons will be engaging for 3-5 year olds. I will be on the floor with the children, I will move with the children, and I will celebrate with the children. We will interact through our music making. Songs will be provided to parents to help continue with learning at home. Children who attend this class do not need any prior experience in music. I will help lead them in their musical first steps!
Learning Goals
1) Students will learn how to be tuneful with their voices. They will sing simple songs, they will echo the teacher, they will respond with their singing voice, and they will create their own melodies with their voices.
2) Students will learn how to keep a steady beat. They will move to the beat and perform beat motions to many songs and rhymes.
