****This class is pre-recorded and does NOT meet live.*** Are you a sushi lover? Or you know someone who is? Let's make some sushi ornaments for the Christmas tree or give them away as gifts. In the videos, I will demonstrate how to make various types of sushi using modeling clay or playdough (please check the supplies section). I will also provide written and picture step-by-step instructions. I will show students different techniques and help them along the way. Students are encouraged to design their own sushi after learning about different types of techniques. No experiences necessary.
Learning Goals
Students will grow in confidence and flexibility as they venture out into the freedom of being creative and imaginative.

Please be advised of potential sensitivities and allergies to clay/playdough used in this project.
Supply List
Students will need a set clay or playdough of a variety of colors (might need extra white and black). I recommend air dry magic clay, especially if they want to hang these on the tree. Air clay is lighter and hangs better on the tree. This is a link where you can purchase it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/EDIFON-Modeling-Sculpting-Non-Toxic-Eco-Friendly/dp/B0919BBYBR Students can also string these to hanging the ornaments. Having some tools can also help with shaping the clay. If tools don't come with your set, you can use a set of plastic utensils for cutting the clay and making holes.

About Me:
I have a Master's degree in teaching and over 15 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools. From 2016-2020, I've been teaching and training teachers for online instruction, specializing in methodologies and curriculum development. I also spent many years studying how the brain learns information. It's fascinating! I'm a mom of two kiddos. They are the reason I love teaching.
My classes:
All the materials in my classroom are designed with kids in mind, and I ensure that all my classes are tested with students before being launched. My strength lies in motivating struggling students to enjoy learning. I help them overcome fear of challenging subjects like math or languages by creating an environment
that is fun and engaging. Over the years, I have implemented effective lessons, using unconventional methods such as Singapore math, that are not typically taught in classrooms. These methods allow me to target students' individual needs.
Accomplishments:
I have spearheaded several initiatives in online teaching, including the first successful online classroom program in the world for impoverished children, which I presented at the International TESOL Convention in 2018. My ultimate desire is to see education made accessible to underprivileged kids worldwide.
Educational Philosophy:
I believe that every child deserves access to fun and effective education. Recognizing that every child learns differently, I strive to accommodate various learning styles. Above all, my goal is to put a smile on every child's face.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Design
- Master's degree in Teaching
- Elementary Education Certification with ESOL
