Homework
1-2 hours per week. In this self-paced photography course, students will complete weekly photography assignments to practice in different locations and conditions beyond the video lessons. To facilitate feedback, it is best for learners to post their images under classroom posts rather than sending them as messages. Each photo shared will receive constructive feedback, helping students enhance their skills and foster their creativity.

Intermediate - Advanced Level
*IMPORTANT PREREQUISITE: This is the third course in the Self-Paced Creative Photography Class Series. Students must complete the 4-week Level 1 and the 6-week Level 2 courses before enrolling in this one.

While there are no live Zoom sessions, students can engage with pre-recorded demonstrations that illustrate key concepts, alongside visual presentations that enhance understanding. Learners will pause to take photos while watching video lessons.

CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES
This class is the first in a comprehensive series aimed at building photography skills over time. It consists of three levels:

- Level 1: 4 Weeks
- Level 2: 6 Weeks
- Level 3: 8 Weeks

Altogether, this series comprises an 18-week semester course designed to provide a robust photography education. 

Level 4 and 5 classes coming soon in 2025! 

Formats Available  
All courses are offered in both live Zoom sessions and self-paced formats, catering to a wide age range: 6-10 years, 10-13 years, and 13-18 years.
Learning Goals
Students will develop the ability to effectively manipulate various lighting conditions, enhancing their photographic storytelling by creating mood and emotion in their images.
Students will refine their skills in advanced composition techniques, allowing them to craft intentional, striking photographs that highlight their subjects and tell a compelling narrative.

Syllabus

8 Lessons
over 8 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Lighting terms
 Students will introduce themselves and discuss their favorite and most challenging light sources. They’ll share photos taken prior to the class and learn essential lighting terminology to effectively describe the lighting in photographs.

Lesson 2:
Bright sunlight
 This week focuses on capturing photos in bright sunlight. Students will practice photographing moving subjects. They'll take outdoor photos in bright sunlight to share in Week 3. 
25 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Shade, sunrise & sunset
 Students will learn techniques for photographing in shade, as well as at sunrise and sunset. Emphasizing landscapes and portraits, they will take practice photos outdoors during these optimal times between Weeks 3 and 4. 
Lesson 4:
Indoor lighting
 This lesson covers strategies for taking photos indoors, even in challenging lighting conditions. Students will learn new tricks for photographing indoors.

With a Master's in Special Education, Erika designs our courses to support diverse learners. Our hands-on, interactive lessons foster engagement, and we are open to accommodating any specific needs to ensure to ensure success.
Pre-Requisites
This course is the third in the Creative Photography Series. Students must complete the Level 1 Class (4 weeks) & the Level 2 Class (6 weeks) before enrolling in this class to ensure a solid foundation in essential photography skills.
