Before I began mentoring aspiring and working photographers, I ran a successful photography business in a small town in Pennsylvania. I made many mistakes along the way which helped me develop the training program that I use for mentoring and have adapted for teenagers here on Outschool.

Self-Paced Learn How to Use Your DSLR or Mirrorless Camera: Manual Settings Learners don't need to be experts but should have a general understanding of apeture, shutter speed & ISO.
A camera that allows the student to change their aperture, shutter speed, and ISO is required for this course. DSLR or mirrorless cameras are most common. Many students will be using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop at this point in their photography education.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will choose a cause that is important to them to create an image in the last weeks of class. Each student's own personal experiences will impact their choices and students may choose to share these only with me via message but this particular assignment may bring up a variety of more mature topics.
