Start your child's German language journey off right with good guidance to high German pronunciation, literature, culture and fun! This club is for beginners of the German language. In this club, students will learn basic conversational German. This is a self-paced club, so there are no live meetings and students can view the videos on their own schedule! This club offers highly interactive learner-to-learner and educator-to-learner engagement. I use “I have, who has?” (Ich habe, wer hat?) and "I love, who loves?" (Ich liebe/Wer liebt?) games to foster interaction and fun in the classroom and practice vocabulary and pronunciation skills. Like all my courses, this club we will include college level materials that I find helpful and still lean heavily on the natural language immersion model. Your students will have a lot of fun learning a wide range of basic German vocabulary and phrases. They will also study important cultural, geographical and historical concepts related to Germany and the German language. The focus will be on language comprehension and taking any fear of becoming confident German communicators from the start. Your student will repeat high German (no accent) after me and we will set the ground work for correct and native-like pronunciation. At the end of the club your student will be able to carry short conversations in German, talk about what they like/love, what they are good at, introduce him or herself to their peers, comprehend basic conversational concepts, and hold a mini presentation in German (Similar to what my first year college students do)! I will use college level materials scaled down to my Outschool students' age and have seen this to be highly successful to prepare students for the future. Being a native speaker I have found that in teaching German the most efficient and most natural approach is the language immersion model. The students will hear me speak a lot of German and will have fun repeating phrases after me. We will initially focus on comprehension and then move to reading, writing and first grammatical concepts to understand German sentence structure. Your scholar will not notice how much he or she is learning while having fun!! Auf Wiedersehen! Nancy *** During the semester I am currently only available for selective semi-private or private tutoring sessions. Feel free to message me for any questions or requests. GERMAN 1- COURSE OUTLINE 🌟 Willkommen zum Unterricht! (Welcome to our class) 🤓 This German language class series is taught by a native German speaker and college professor who has taught all ages from 0-70 This class is for students who have no knowledge of the German language yet and are looking forward to learn! After this course students will be able to take my advanced classes, conversation courses and German book clubs. Students will learn the basics of understanding and speaking German and at least 150 German vocabulary words using, repetition, songs, videos and props. 💻 Each week, a new lesson will be released which will include: -A prerecorded video lesson by the teacher. -A project assignment which may include a short video, a drawing, or a photo collage (all due on different weeks) -A list with 10 new vocabulary words, worksheets and an interactive online vocabulary assignment. -A short (5 question) electronic worksheet assessment. -On top of the class video there may be 1-2 short (10 second) videos of me saying basic phrases such as the day of the week. Each student will be asked to record and post videos to the class page of themselves duplicating these short videos showing their ability to say the words and phrases. In this way students can interact with each other and learn together through their videos clips. I will extensively respond to each students videos and work with much encouragement and when needed correction. My feedback is always positive and uplifting. Students are also encouraged (just like in college later on) to comment on their fellow students' work with positive affirmations and emojis to cheer each other on! Once students have watched the video of the week, they will be expected to fill out a provided worksheet each week and upload a picture to the classroom, as well as post a video of themselves speaking.

About me:
I have been teaching German to every age in various settings for the past 20 years - including language institutes, public charter schools, business and private schools. I am currently working as German language professor at a private university in Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, I speak high German (no dialect) and enjoy hearing my students develop an accent-free German, naturally by listening to me speak and by hearing themselves repeat German phrases till they become natural to them.
I am a very compassionate, encouraging and fun loving teacher and it is a joy to continuously see my students gain confidence in their speaking ability and pronunciation. Highlight of my month is always hearing formerly shy students confidently holding accent free presentations at the end of the semester.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in my class soon!
(Ich freue mich dich bald kennenzulernen!! )
