Beginner Level
In this 9-week beginner friendly, cursive writing class, students will learn and practice all upper and lowercase cursive letters. We will learn how to form the letters, connect the letters, make words and eventually write sentences. How is this class structured? Each week, we will learn letters that use similar strokes and movements. The students will receive videos and a menu of items they can choose to complete to help practice the weekly letters. The menu would include fun, interactive ways to practice the letters, tracing worksheets and more! There will be a culminating project at the end where students will use what they learned and write a short paragraph story in cursive. How will I teach? At the beginning of the week, the students will watch a video that demonstrates clearly how to make the letters of the week. I will check in on the students throughout the week and will send a weekly menu with ideas and assignments to give students a choice in their learning. My teaching style is happy and energetic. I do a lot of modeling and direct teaching so students know what is expected. I also believe in student choice. Students learn best when they are given ownership over their work! Learners will get to interact with other students by commenting on projects others have submitted. Learners can post photos and videos of themselves doing the fun activities to practice cursive letters. For example, "Post a picture of you writing the weekly letters in shaving cream!" Learners will also get the opportunity to respond to my teaching videos, turn in worksheets from the copy work and more.

Students will learn all lowercase and uppercase letters in cursive. Students will connect letters in cursive and begin writing words and sentences.

Students will practice the "loop letters" and do a few activities from the choice board including: watch a how-to video, rainbow letters, complete a worksheet to make and connect the letters, go on a scavenger hunt and create silly sentences. 16 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Lowercase Letters: m, n, v, w, x, y, z
Students will practice the "hump letters" and do a few activities from the choice board including: watch a how-to video, rainbow letters, complete a worksheet to make and connect the letters, go on a scavenger hunt and chalk letters. 14 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
Lowercase Letters: i, j, p, r, s, t, u
Students will practice the "castle letters" and do a few activities from the choice board including: watch a how-to video, rainbow letters, complete a worksheet to make and connect the letters, go on a scavenger hunt and ghost letters. 12 mins of video lessons
Other Details
Learning Needs
This class will support many different learning needs such as neurodiverse and ADHD. In this class, students will be provided with a menu for each week. They get to choose which items they want to do based upon their comfort level.
Pre-Requisites
No prior cursive knowledge is required!
Supply List
Learners will need handwriting paper and a pencil. Other supplies will be optional activities listed in the weekly menu.
