Join me for a year of 2nd grade math! This class is part three of four. We will be continuing the year with measurement, data, and graphs.

Homework
1 hour per week. Independent work will be provided for each lesson in the form of a digital activity and a printed activity. Digital activities will be automatically submitted to the teacher. For printed activities, the learner will need to take a picture of their work to upload to the classroom. The teacher will review and provide feedback for work submitted within 48 hours of receiving submitted work.
Assessment
Assessments will be offered at the end of each unit as a check-in for learners. This is an opportunity for learners to check in to see what they understand and what they still have questions about. All assessments will be digital.

Class Experience

US Grade 2
**This is a Self-Paced Class which means no live meetings**

This class will cover part three of four of a full year of second grade math curriculum based on common core standards.   This class will cover measurement and data and Graphs.  We will learn inches, feet, yards, centimeters, and meters.  We will practice measuring the length of objects.  We will find the area of a rectangle, and solve measurement word problems.  We will learn about bar graphs, pictographs, and line plots.  Your learner will be able to read and answer questions about these different types of graphs.

Each video lesson will include the teacher introducing the targeted skill and any relevant vocabulary that goes with the skill.  Video lessons are typically 10 minutes or less.  The teacher will model multiple practice problems of the target skill.  Independent practice will be provided for each lesson.   In the self-paced format, learners will be able to complete lessons at their own pace.  

Digital activities provided will use Nearpod, Canva, Kahoot! and Google Forms.  For digital activities, responses will automatically be sent to the teacher to review and offer feedback.  For printed activities, learners can upload a picture of the completed work for teacher feedback.  

Teacher feedback will be provided within 48 hours of receiving submitted work during the initial 8 week period of enrollment.  Teacher feedback will come in the form of written responses, or video responses.  If additional support is needed, 1:1 sessions may be scheduled based on the availability and schedule of the learner and teacher.

Lesson 3:
Which unit of measurement should we use?
 In this lesson, we are going to determine which unit of measurements we should use to measure different sized objects.

Comparing Lengths
 In this lesson, we will determine the length of an object using inches, feet, or Yards.  We will also compare the lengths of objects.

Parental Guidance
This class may have activities and assessments that use Nearpod, Canva, Kahoot!, and Google Forms. These activities are always optional.
Supply List
-I will provide printed handouts. 
-Learners will also want to have a ruler that can measure in both inches and centimeters to practice measuring objects around their home.
