A one-time thoughtful crafting class, where the learner will identify their own best traits and values, all while creating a Valentine craft that physically represents the student's positive self-view.
Class experience
The class will blend crafting, along with emotional skill building to identify the learners best characteristics. To introduce the crafting project, I will introduce the topic of Self-Love and how love of self is a building block for confidence, healthy relationships and future success. Students will have a better understanding of their individual strengths, personal values and positive characteristics. They will also have a lovely craft which will represent their own positive self-view.
My focus when working with students is social emotional wellness and I often use art and crafts to assist students with expressing themselves. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling and extensive experience working with young people during the last 15+ years of my career.
A pdf of the materials will be provided in advance. Required by the student: a printer, printer paper, scissors, glue stick, thin black/dark marker, and colored pencils. Optional for the student: card stock, heart stickers, red or pink paper, anything else appropriate to beautify their craft
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I encourage parents to discuss the finished craft project with the student and reflect with them about the nature of the qualities identified during the making of the craft.
