During this class, young girls will be taught to stop comparing themselves to others and to find encouragement in kind words from close friends and family. Classes are taught by Zoom video calls to allow for interaction amongst students. My teaching style heavily involves conversational aspects. I aim to get the students to share and give input on the discussions. This is to allow the students to practice public speaking and build self-confidence through positive reinforcement. Students will improve in the area of self-confidence from their thoughts to their words, to their actions. The young girls will learn to be confident in decision-making abilities, speech, interactions with others, posture, eye-contact, and self-talk. The goal is for the students to leave each class with a newfound confidence in themselves.
There is no traditional homework assigned per week. However, related exercises will be assigned following each class. For instance, the topic for a class could cover the impacts of gossip. The assigned exercise following up that class would encourage each girl to stop gossip from happening as they hear it. This not only trains them to understand the principle that gossip is bad, but it also allows them to practice confidently saying no to people when necessary.
Week 1: Students will need to reference the one-page handout that will be provided Week 2: Students will need post-it notes and a pen Week 3: Students will need a notebook and a pencil Week 4: Students will need a notebook and a pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I will NOT discuss any mature or sensitive topics above a G or PG rating. This is a class suitable for young girls between the ages of 6-9.
