Summer Time, Summer Time, Summer Time!! This class series will be taught as a Summer Camp all summer. See you there! https://outschool.com/classes/self-confidence-emotional-intelligence-and-mindfulness-guided-visualizations-camp-Ie0Z5Xl0?usid=YHxT6iKX&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link ----------------------------------------------- This series of classes are great for anyone interested in increasing their self-awareness in relationship skills and their own self-confidence through the understanding of psychology and emotional intelligence while gaining traction on goals and habits that stick. No background knowledge in any topic is necessary. 5 Topics, 1 topic per week: 1 - Non-Verbal Interpersonal Communication Skills: Non-verbal communication tells us a lot about a person's personality and what their inner thoughts are. Nonverbal components contribute to over 90% of communication - Words 7%, Body Language 55%,Tone of Voice 38%. Non-verbal communication helps the appropriate delivery of feelings and attitude. However, when there is a misinterpretation or a deception of non-verbal cues, chances increase that there will be a misunderstanding or that a lie is involved. Learning to understand non-verbal communication can help in many social situations. 2 - Verbal Interpersonal Communication Skills: Compassionate and assertive verbal communication helps us express our views and achieve goals and do so without hurting or alienating others. It’s the key to developing mutual respect for each other. Compassionate and assertive communication is conveying your message in a direct but accepting and respectful way. 3 - Self Esteem and Self Actualization: We unconsciously take cues of what’s desirable by watching celebrities, famous people and influencers. We look to the media and our social circles for clues of how we’re supposed to be. This comparing of others can lull us into forgetting what our own true potential is. This class looks at moving self-esteem from negative self-talk and negative perceptions to positive and rewarding perceptions of the self and others, moving us closer to understanding our own potential of self-actualization. 4 - Self Confidence: We gain a sense of self-confidence when we see ourselves improving our skills, achieving goals and reflecting on the positive. This encourages us to believe that, if we learn and work hard in a particular area, we'll succeed. It's this type of confidence that leads people to accept difficult challenges and to keep going in the face of setbacks. Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing mistakes. 5 - Finding One's Purpose: Students will be guided to engage in their own inner-dialogue to deepen their understanding of what brings them to life. What talents and passions do they want to bring into the world? What values do they most want to uphold in their life? What are the *cognitive principles* behind those talents, passions and values that translate into right livelihood? This series of classes will follow the same format each week. During the first part of the class we will cover the weekly topic with a Google Slides Presentation that covers evidence-based information about that topic as well as the psychology and neuroscience behind it. I also utilize lots of real life examples to help make the material more concretely understood. Next, a guided visualization journey will bridge the cognitive learning with personal mindfulness learning. After the guided visualization, we will summarize the class and have a question and answer session. If the learner would like to share any aspect or ah-ha's from their guided visualization experience, they are welcome to. If not, that is equally acceptable. Students will be offered a daily journal to write in during the first class. Students can use this journal to reflect on their new understandings learned in the class material as well as note their insights from the weekly guided visualizations. A guided visualization helps a person use their imagination to take them to a calm, peaceful place. During a guided visualization everyone is fully conscious of what is happening. I will help guide students to a relaxed mental state where they can explore their own answers to questions they have been struggling to resolve within their conscious minds. I will help guide students to use their imagination to have a full-five sensory experience and visualize their best-case scenario. Just as Olympic athletes use visualization before competitions to improve their outcomes, I can help students incorporate the practice of visualization into a new life skill. The student will end the guided visualization feeling calm, relaxed and with a new, inspired game plan for the future. I truly love teaching these secular and non-therapeutic classes that are both educational and immersive about emotional intelligence and brain science while finding relaxation, calmness and personal awareness and growth. Teaching for the left and right brain is my superpower! Learning Goals
This class will offer new tools to help create a greater knowledge of emotional intelligence and a calm state of mind. Students will come away with an understanding that interpersonal communication skills, self-esteem, self-actualization, self-confidence and finding one's purpose are a journey of practice that will gain traction over time and they will be encouraged to continue to work with their new mindfulness tools, habits and goals as well as strengthen their personal motivators.
