In this ongoing course, individual or small groups of students will have the opportunity to work line by line on specific speeches, build confidence in presentation, and receive individual feedback to improve.
Class experience
Upon request, this is an intermediate class for students who have already taken a class that laid the groundwork for public speaking. Students can bring specific speeches they need more focused guidance on. If a student is struggling to start a speech, we can work together to organize thinking and decide how best to deliver the message. If a student has a speech prepared, and would like to build confidence in their presentation, we can work on projection, clarity, posture, eye contact,...
Students will learn to focus their thinking and speak with clarity, assertion, and confidence. Students will build upon their natural strengths. Students will learn and practice skills that will carry them confidently into further training and more formal speaking settings. Students will be encouraged, to respectfully interact with one another, listen actively, and to provide constructive feedback.
This course is informed by my training in the arts, and my experience as an educator. I currently work as a teacher in a classroom, (and online). In the past, I have travelled the world as a singer and songwriter, and spoken as a panelist at various music conferences. I've conducted interviews with major label artists for various media outlets. Since 2007, I have produced and hosted my own radio show and podcast. I have worked in schools teaching Public Speaking. With our virtual presence required more and more, I am excited to bring this course online.
