As kids get older, self-care becomes more and more important. Self-care is a great stress reliever, and it keeps our mental health in check. This class will help girls get into the habit of practicing self-care every week. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to get to know each other and have conversations each week. Self-care activities in this class include manicures, journaling, making face masks for skincare, and more (see schedule below). I also encourage students to share...
I've taught and tutored several students in this age range. I also practice self-care on my own and teach other self-care classes for tween and teenage girls. I've also attended a few self-care and mental health workshops.
Week One: 10-20 popsicle sticks, permanent marker, stickers or washi tape (optional) Week Two: a blender, a drinking glass, strawberries, banana, spinach or kale, milk or milk alternative, ginger (optional) Week Three: optional note-taking supplies Week Four: comfortable clothes, water bottle, exercise mat (optional) Week Five: journal with a blank cover, materials of your choice to decorate (paint, stickers, etc.) Week Six: nail polish, paper towels, nail clippers (optional), nail buff (optional), cuticle stick (optional), lotion (optional) Week Seven: optional note-taking supplies Week Eight: banana, baking soda, turmeric, measuring spoons, fork, bowl, paper towels, headband or hair tie (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Parental guidance is recommended when using a blender, nail polish, or paint. Please be aware that there is always a risk of injury during physical activity. While a warm-up and cool-down will be included to prevent injury, accidents can happen. It is recommended that all individuals consult with their physician before beginning any exercise program.
