I have been teaching mindfulness and social-emotional learning to kids, tweens and teens for more than five years, and have taught thousands of kids important tools and knowledge to help them better understand their own thoughts, feelings, and bodies.

I hold two Master's degrees in Education and have taken several trainings in Mindfulness Teaching and Social-Emotional Learnings.

I believe that being a tween is an important time to learn about self-care that meets one's own social, emotional, and physical needs. Please note, in this course, I do not teach about the anatomical body changes during puberty; instead I cover important topics that are rarely taught or talked about with girls, including self-talk, body image, being brave, healthy habits, and creating meaningful friendships. I include several mindfulness and creative tools as well, such as breathing techniques, body scan practices, creating and writing affirmations, and more.

When I was a tween I struggled to understand my changing feelings and my own thoughts and self-talk. I also struggled to create meaningful friendships because of my lack of self-esteem. It wasn't until later, when I learned powerful self-care techniques, that I developed into who I am today.

I want to empower tweens to do the same: to believe in themselves and take care of their own wellbeing.
Each week, a detailed summary of what we worked on in class will be provided in the classroom. Students will also be assigned an interactive, optional challenge each week, to extend and integrate the week's learnings in their own lives.

Some of the weekly challenges will include:
- Writing short letters or cards
- Affirmation writing
- Creating Mind Maps
- Creating a collage using drawings, old magazines, books, and more
- Practicing Breathing and other Mindfulness techniques at home
Learners do not need any "extra" supplies than what is already in the house.

Some materials we will use for weekly challenges and an ending project:
- Journal or notebook and drawing/writing utensils
- Paper and old magazines/books for collage-making
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I do not assess learners in this course because the nature of the course content. However, if parents are interested in receiving holistic feedback about their child's participation in the course, I am more than happy to give it.

I also provide weekly handouts and weekly challenges for the students to do at home to extend their learning and integrate it into their lives.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, please note:
This class empowers tweens to better understand themselves, their own emotions, self-talk, body image and beliefs! I do NOT teach them what to believe but guide them to their own answers.

This class does not cover any anatomical body changes that happen during puberty but instead looks at the social-emotional side of being a tween. I created this course because of many of clients' struggles of finding themselves during the transition between being a child and a teen.

I also provide many mindfulness techniques in this class, as well as ideas for healthy habits to improve wellbeing (which are all taught in a secular way and not associated to any religion).

Lastly, feel free to send me an individual message if there is something you would like me to know about your tween or work on with them! Because of the small number of students in my courses, I try my best to adapt the courses to meet the needs of its participants.

**Please note: it is not necessary to buy either of these books. However, if you are interested in them, they are both great reads that provide valuable information for tweens.
