In this course, learners will understand and practice techniques for self-advocacy. In my years of teaching (and with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology), I find that the most successful students are able to ask questions and get clarification while developing their interpersonal skills. Students will learn three techniques for self-advocacy based on psychologically-proven data and studies Students will learn the best times and techniques to approach another adult or teacher for a conversation Students will view and practice example conversations Students will understand and take home an email template that they can use when sending electronic communications to adults
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
