In this class, students will learn about self-acceptance, different ways to boost their self-esteem, as well as what influences that negatively affect them, including particular environments or with certain types of people. We will examine how we communicate and receive information (e.g. from friends, teachers, the internet, social media sites) and review how all these elements can affect affect their self-confidence and sense of self. Students will learn about influences which might undermine their self-confidence, receive affirmation that "they are doing the best they can", and consider ways to apply methods or tools to build their self-esteem.
I have over 20 years experience in practicing mindfulness meditation and over 10 years teaching. I have led guided meditation in many environments and with different ages that include affirmation and "self-acceptance", which along with relaxation and stress-reduction are fundamental elements of mindfulness meditation. I have also taught reflection skills to adults, children, university students and faculty.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
