See - Say - Write - Read Ala Carte 3 Consonant Digraphs
Class experience
US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is a foundational language arts class based on Wanda Sanseri's Spell to Write and Read/The Wise Guide for Spelling. It uses multi-sensory direct instruction in intensive phonics to teach reading from the basis of the sounds of speech. In this third lesson, the phonograms sh, ck, ch,wh, and th will be taught. The related spelling rules will be introduced after the students practice saying and writing each phonogram correctly. Practice spelling and reading related words will follow.
Students will be understand that these two letter phonograms create one sound each. They will learn about the sounds of each one and how to form them and write them. They will also practice spelling and writing high frequency words that use these phonograms.
This method was introduced to me more than twenty years ago. I have successfully used this with my own homeschooled children, with reading intervention students at a charter school in my area, and since 2019 I have been tutoring full time using primarily Spell to Write and Read for my struggling readers.
This is not designed for special needs, but all students, including those with signs of dyslexia will benefit.

The lesson will be presented using PowerPoint, Google Slides and a document camera. This means I will be sharing my screen with the students.
