Over 50 minutes, learn some insider tricks and tips for approaching portrait painting with confidence from a practising artist and experienced art teacher! Using a selection of images for inspiration and an over head camera for demonstrations, I will teach students how to they can approach painting portraits with confidence. I am passionate about promoting the creative process and am always positive, friendly and encouraging! Topics covered in this session will include: - A quick guide to facial proportion and the individual features - Tips for a "stay-wet palette" - Colour mixing - different skin tones - Paint application Students will not complete a full portrait in this time, but will do lots of practical exercises to help them learn the tips and tricks! These will form a useful bank of resources they can return to again and again. This lesson will give students the confidence to begin and finish amazing portraits after the class! Supply List
Paper, a pencil, eraser, acrylic paints (red, blue, yellow and white), a water pot, paintbrush(es) and a palette or dinner plate to mix paint on.

I am a practising artist and taught Art and Design and Photography in secondary schools and sixth forms for over 13 years, honing my approach until my teaching was consistently graded outstanding against the OFSTED framework. In addition to this I have run hundreds of art workshops for children both in the UK and Ireland.
I am proud to develop and run Future Creatives workshops (both online and in person) for the University of the Arts London (UAL) which comprises of 6 colleges, among them Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Arts.
I am passionate about promoting the creative process in children and am always positive, friendly and encouraging! I specialise in helping children with low self-confidence in art improve their skills and rediscover the joy of making art.
