Description
Class Experience
Learners will be introduced to many historical topics that will be presented with a twist of facts and unusual tidbits that they will likely not read in traditional history book. Class discussions, lecture, participation, and journaling will be the main formats used in presenting material. Students will be asked to keep a comparison chart of operations in the note-taking packet provided as a pdf. On the last day there will be a discussion and final writing on which operations the learner thinks was most dangerous, which operation they found most interesting and which operation would they have done differently. *Camps do not need to be taken in order* Knowledge is like the wind…once you feel it...it can take you anywhere!
I adore learning fascinating, behind-the-scenes tidbits about anything. I have been teaching standard American History curriculum for 20+ years, and I have found that finding fun twists to standard curriculum helps learners remember and relate to facts better. This format helps my students build critical thinking skills, as well as gain knowledge about historical events. By adding a new perspective to familiar topics, we can expand our thinking to include new possibilities!
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
WWII is a fascinating subject, and has an array of platforms to discover. In this class students will be introduced to the leaders, each countries stance at the relevant time, tactics and strategies employed during WWII and the results of their actions. While I will mention casualty rates, I will not be going into detail about and POW camps / treatment, concentration camps / treatment, etc.; however, it will be addressed as an area they can look further into with parent permission.
