In this course, students will learn how to write a persuasive letter. We first review why we have persuasive writing and why authors chose this type of writing. Students will review facts and opinions and why they are important to persuasive writing. In each class, the students will have a short lesson or review from the teacher. During the course of this class, students will learn to write a persuasive letter with different real-world examples. Week 1- reviewing fact and opinion and introduction to persuasive Essential questions: What is persuasive writing? When is persuasive writing necessary? How can I use persuasive writing in my daily life? What is the structure of persuasive writing Week 2-4 Informative writing Essential questions: How do I write persuasive writing or letter? Why are details and reasons important? What kinds of information is best to include? How do I persuade my audience? I believe in the gradual release model. I plan to teach and model each component, then have the class work together with me to create together, then last they will have the opportunity to practice the skill on their own. Students will participate in group writing activities and break out groups to help them help and encourage each other to become better writers. I want all students to know anyone can be a writer.
