US Grade 2
Hi and welcome to my math class! Let's review our second grade math skills and get ready for third grade! Each week we will explore a different math topic/skill and you can join at any time. This class meets 2 times a week and will run through August 23, with a SUMMER BREAK, JULY 1-5. Students learn through demonstrations, slides/visuals, interactive activities, guided practice, and independent practice. Each week we work on the skill(s) listed in the schedule below. We also practice number sense and fact fluency, as well. Word problems are often used to connect math to real world situations and we discuss our mathematical thinking/reasoning and different strategies that we can use. There will be an optional worksheet available after class to practice/reinforce what we learned in class. Here are our weekly lesson topics: June 3-7-- Addition to 100 June 10-14 -- Subtraction to 100 June 17-21 -- Shapes and Solid Figures June 24-28 -- Dividing Shapes/Fractions July 1-5 -- NO CLASS July 8-12-- Number Sense to 1000 July 15-19 -- Data/Graphs July 22-23 -- Addition to 1000 July 29-August 2 -- Subtraction to 1000 August 5-9 -- Balancing Equations August 12-16 -- Time and Word Problems August 19-23 -- LAST CLASS Arrays/Intro to Multiplication *This class is appropriate for students performing at or close to a Second Grade level. *Materials: Supplies will vary each week. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an ongoing weekly subscription class. You can join for one class or continue for several weeks. You will be automatically charged each Sunday for the following week once you've subscribed. When you want to unsubscribe, be sure to do so before Sunday so you won't be charged for the following week. If a class isn’t scheduled for a particular day, you will not be charged. Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello and welcome! My name is Ms. Sarah. I am a credentialed teacher with 18 years of experience teaching in the public, private, and online school settings. Most of my years spent teaching have been in first grade, which I love. I enjoy teaching Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with specialization in Early Childhood. I also have a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction.
I like to teach lessons that are interactive, engaging, meaningful, and fun. I want students to not be afraid to take risks in learning. Even if they don’t get the correct answer right away, that’s ok, as long as they try their best. Learning is an ongoing process and everybody learns at different rates and through different methods and styles.
I love animals and I have lots of pets, including dogs, birds, and bunnies. I also enjoy baking, tap dancing, and learning new things. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
