Students will engage in open conversations directed by the specific class topic. They will be encouraged to engage in activities as per teacher direction. Students will be offered the opportunity to ask questions and discuss answers or themes as appropriate. Class will use open lecture, small projects, pictures and/or videos, and book readings to enhance the topic being learned (any videos will be presented to care givers in advance in order to be pre-approved before using in the class).

As always, my class will involve humor, laughter and appropriate socializing to encourage a friendly learning environment for each student and to aide each student in growth and understanding of the social studies topics covered. Follow up worksheets and/or activities will be available for independent assessment.

This class is a good fit for the struggling second grade social studies student OR for the brand new second grade social studies student. It can be used as a full study of the half academic year for social studies or in addition to any social studies work being done by the student's caregiver or school!
Learning Goals
Students will learn a second grade social studies curriculum if they are fully participating each week.

I am a well rounded teacher with experience in a variety of subject areas, curriculum, age levels and abilities. I love learning and I love to make learning fun for others. I have a fun sense of humor with a small degree of sarcasm that enables my students to feel comfortable and open to accepting challenges.

I have taught in classrooms full of students. I have worked with students of special needs. I have tutored one on one with a variety of topics and ages. I have worked online with foreign students. I have participated in adult education/training (helping adults to be teachers). I am continuously homeschooling my own five children.

I love to laugh and to hear others laughing. My teaching style is to break ideas down into small chunks to make it so all learners can navigate at their own pace and using their own understanding. I always aim to get my students laughing too while accomplishing this. The more we laugh, the more we love what we are doing and I want my students to love learning!
