In this class, we cover the entire science for second grade curriculum, aligned with standards, through very interactive lessons. We use Power Point presentations and 3D visuals, with an abundance of examples, while also connecting the concepts to the real life. Students are encouraged to think like scientists and cultivate their curiosity. They will apply the scientific method, work collaboratively with partners to solve problems, & participate in class discussions and projects. Reading materials and handouts for every lesson will be provided a week in advance. Learners will also have an observations journal and will receive homework and quizzes regularly. Families can submit these for comments and feedback and we could gladly provide a grade report by request. A list of materials and handouts will be provided in advance to every meeting. Experiments will be modeled in class and it is up to the families if they want learners to follow the teacher's instructions or replicate after class. We welcome learners who wish to join at any point during the program! Our supportive environment ensures a smooth transition, so new learners won’t feel left behind. We provide additional guidance to help them catch up and fully engage with the material. Plus, since the program restarts upon completion, every learner will have the opportunity to experience the full curriculum.

Supply List
We will use common household items for the majority of the experiments: like paper plates, popsicle sticks, nylon bags, etc. Families will receive a list at least a week in advance. If learners do not have the materials during a particular experiment they should observe and reproduce the experiment later with family supervision. Occasionally, we will use water and some ingredients that need to be handled with care around electronics. A notification will be sent in these instances.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
