Welcome to 2nd Grade Reading Comprehension. This is an on-going class so your learner is free to jump in any time they are able to and stay as long as they'd like. I try to keep children unmuted during class for participation but will mute to minimize distractions as needed. Each week students will receive classwork printouts to check for understanding in class.

Pre-K/Kindergarten skills (ages 4-6), Sight Words Classes (ages 4-7), First Grade Phonics, Writing Sentences, English as a Second Language (ESL) **Private Tutoring & Group Conversational English practice, & Story Time/Art (elementary).
My Background:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2012 from Barton College in North Carolina. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9, and Special Education K-12. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate. I have 7 years of public school teaching experience. Currently, I am a Work-At-Home mom of two kids. I have been teaching online for the past 3 years, so I understand the importance of making students feel welcome and included in this setting.
My Philosophy:
I believe all children are capable of being successful, regardless of their backgrounds. I believe that every child has different strengths and can use their strengths to overcome their weaker areas. I also think that the more fun a child has, the more they will want to learn.

-I have a husband, a daughter, and a son. Both of my children enjoy taking classes on Outschool.
-I have 3 dogs and 1 cat.
-I enjoy running, baking, and finding new restaurants/places to visit.
