Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3

Beginner Level

This  class will focus on rounding numbers. Each day there will be one 5-10 minute mini-lesson put in the classroom along with guided practice for the skill of the day. After class students will have activities to show their proficiency in that skill therefore a printer is necessary. 

This self paced course is a part of my growing Math Workshop series tailored to teaching specific skills in a weekly course. Since this is a self paced class, students can go through the course at their own pace to suit their personal learning style and schedule however, for maximum retention and practice a week is recommended with one lesson a day.

Lesson 1:

Drawing Number Lines

 For lesson 1 we will review counting by 10's up to 1000 and drawing number lines to show the various tens or hundreds

Rounding to the nearest ten

 Lesson 2 will focus on determining which two tens a number is between and rounding it to the nearest multiple of ten

Rounding to the nearest hundred

 Lesson 3 will focus on rounding to the nearest hundred

Estimating Sums and Differences

 Lesson 4 will focus using our skills to estimate sums and differences

Welcome! My name is Debbie and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on math and science.  I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence. 

I primarily teach math classes most popular class is my 1:1 math tutoring class, but I have expanded my classes recently to include art classes as well as thematic science classes for first, second, third and fourth grades.
