🌟 Welcome!🌟 In this fun and interactive second-grade pod, learners will work on second-grade reading, writing, grammar, and math together. Each week will focus on a different aspect of second-grade learning. 🔹 Twice Weekly Live Meetings: 🗓️ We will meet twice a week to learn together. 🔹 Optional Homework: 📚 Students will be given optional homework each week. This homework will build on the class content and reinforce our learning. Let's learn and have fun together! 🎉 🏫Daily Class Structure - 50 minutes per class: 🔢20 minutes of Math: Students will work through the third-grade math curriculum including addition, subtraction, geometry, time, money, and word problems. We will learn and practice together! 🧠 5-minute brain break: Students will work on fun would you rather class questions and stretch their bodies as they take a quick break between subjects. 📖20 minutes of English Language Arts: In English Language Arts class, students will work on second-grade writing, reading, and grammar skills through creative and engaging activities. We will learn to use our writing to express our thoughts! 🤝5 minutes of sharing: Students will have an opportunity to show and tell. This gives our students a chance to connect and build community. Students also learn how to speak to a group, ask questions respectfully, and listen actively. 🌟Our Learning Plan:🌟 Week of September 9 📖English Language Arts: Writing- We will learn about paragraphs and we will write a narrative paragraph. 🔢Math: Add within 20 Week of September 16 📖English Language Arts: Grammar - We will learn the parts of speech (nouns, verbs). 🔢Math: Add within 20 using arrays Week of September 23 📖English Language Arts: Poetry - We will read and examine several acrostic poems and write our own acrostic poems. 🔢Math: Subtract within 20 Week of September 30 📖English Language Arts: Reading - We will examine characters in a narrative text. 🔢Math: Add and subtract within 20 Week of October 7 📖English Language Arts: Writing- We will learn about descriptive words and write super sentences! Our sessions will include collaborative problem-solving, discussions, instruction, and practice. This class is best for students ages 6-9 or those working at the second-grade reading, writing, and math level. This is an inclusive class and all learners are welcome.
