Hello and welcome to guided reading! Guided reading is an essential part of any young reader's education. This is a time where they can challenge themselves to learn and grow! My teaching style is very encouraging and patient. I do not rush students and I do not pressure students. I believe that students learn best when they feel safe and supported, so that is exactly what you will find in my class. To maximize the learning in this class, I have aligned each month to cover a common core social studies theme. This means students are learning two subjects at once and more content is covered in a shorter time! Here is what you can expect each week: Day One: Preview the text, look for text features and complete our first read. Day Two: Second read focused on fluency and working on increasing stamina. Day Three: Comprehension check of the text and writing component. January: Civics, Government and Citizenship February: Elements of a Story March: Energy in All its Forms April: The Arts May: Social and Emotional Concepts Finding the right level for your student is crucial for a successful guided reading group. This group is at level H/I. If you are unsure of your child's level, please let me know and I can discuss it with you to make sure they are in the right class. I offer different levels, so we can find the perfect class for your learner.

Arizona Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University
Hello families! I’m Amanda and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your learner! I love everything about education and feel consider being a teacher as part of who I am. It is my passion!
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, two active teaching licenses in Arizona and reading and ESL endorsements. I've been teaching since 2017 and I'm working towards a master's in child and adolescent development.
My goal as your learner’s teacher is to inspire them to be lifelong learners. Learning is scary and requires a lot of vulnerability to take chances knowing you could make a mistake. I pride myself on helping students feel safe, confident, and secure in themselves. I’ve always seen tremendous growth in students when they are in an environment that allows for them to safely make mistakes and learn from them.
I’m looking forward to meeting your learner and joining them in their educational journey!
