In this ongoing class, second and third-graders will learn a well-rounded reading comprehension curriculum through leveled reading of Aesop's Fables, with a focus on vocabulary, story themes, and total story comprehension. Each class will begin with a short warm-up to get students engaged with the teacher and the lesson material. Each lesson will be focused on one of Aesop's Fable stories so students can master the reading, vocabulary, message, theme, and full story comprehension by the end of class. The curriculum will be taught through group reading activities, search and find activities, writing exercises, songs, games, and LOTS of laughter and fun! Upcoming schedule (PST): April 20th: (story 9) The Stag at the River April 27th: (story 10) The City Mouse and the Country Mouse May 4th: (story 11) The Fox and the Goat (LAST CLASS IN SECTION) Ongoing classes are designed so that students may come and go without needing to attend prior classes - the classes do not build on one another.
