Seasons of Joy: Walking the December Path
What's included
4 live meetings
2 in-class hoursClass Experience
We will spend the four weeks in December celebrating and appreciating all of nature, from the tiniest pebble to the largest star, from seed to plant, from wild animals to ourselves! Each week will follow the Seasons of Joy Circle Time format-- a gathering song, a candle lighting song, fingerplays, movement rhymes, stories, and music, conversation with friends, a sharing time, and finally, blowing out the candle and singing goodbye. Underlying themes will be connectedness, creativity, transformation, and peace. Week One (week of November 27): Stones and Stars We will tell stone stories and sings star songs, and revisit our friends, the gnomes. Feel free to visit a special stone or star to share. Week Two (week of December 4): From Seeds to Plants We will look at some legends of various plants and trees and go on a movement journey as we grow from tiny seeds hiding underground into great strong trees. If you have a houseplant you help care for, please bring it to share. Week Three (week of December 11): Animals All Around How are the animals getting ready for winter? How can we help our animal friends? Join us as we look closely at all the ways the birds and beasts around us prepare for the change of seasons. Do you have a favorite animal? Bring a picture, stuffie, or other representation! Week Four (week of December 18): Here Are My Friends, and Here Am I! During this week we have the shortest days of the whole year, and we will look at how we can share love and kindness and peace with one another during these short, cold days. This can be a hectic time of year as well, so our main focus will be on calmness and our own inner peace and mindfulness. Learners are asked to share something that makes them happy!
Learning Goals
The goal of the class is to help young learners have a calm moment to connect with their friends, sing songs, appreciate the world around them, and draw on their own inner sense of peace and mindfulness.
