This will be our home room and a place for us to engage in conversation to build social skills in a supportive familiar safe online environment. The students that gather here are from different parts of the world. We will discuss the weather, types of vegetation that grows in the area where each student lives, subjects that the students are studying in school and talk about favorite books, favorite foods and places they would like to visit. Each week children will bring something to share with class mates to practice their conversation skills. Each students will have time to share their item and discuss their Show And Tell item. Students will learn to take turns and develop social skills during this class. Week 1 Topic: Animals What is your favorite animal? Why? What are some animal facts you can share about your favorite animal? Bring an animal to share in class today. (Stuffed or Live) Week 2 Topic: Music What is your favorite song? What kind of music do you like? Do you play an instrument? If so, would you like to play it for us? Bring a song to share in class. You may play an instrument, sing, or play a recording of a song you want to share with the group. Week 3 Topic: Plants What kind of plants grow in the area where you live? Do you like tropical plants? Do dessert plants grow near you? What do plants need to grow? Hi. My name is Heather. The best students ask lots of questions and explore their ideas openly. My job is to inspire the questions and give students the tools they need to find their own answers. I earned my BFA from Madonna University in Michigan and my MEd. from Antioch New England in New Hampshire. I am a Nature Based Educator and Art Education Consultant with 25 years of experience working with children. Whether leading a hiking group, sketching, searching for mermaid tears, or giving a demonstration at Strawbery Banke Museum I infuse my days with imagination and curiosity. I am also the Head Youth Librarian at the Newmarket Public Library in New Hampshire!
My heart is in everything I do. Creativity is at the core of all of the classes I teach. Nature Journaling, Gardening, Nature Architects, Myth, Magic and Folklore, The Art of Letter Writing (via Owl post of course!), Morning Circle for Littles, Fine Art classes focusing on famous and not so famous artists, Forest Fairy Club, Wizard's Potions and Magic Wands, and Spelling Bees are just a few of the classes I offer. Ages range from 3 to 18.
