What better way to practice Conversational Cantonese than playing fun games together. Sample games included: guess the item and more! It's time to grab the snacks and have fun socializing!

TOPIC:
* Last class of the summer session is on the week of Jul 31/22 (completed)

*Each group of learners play at different speeds, so it is possible that we may take a few extra minutes to finish the game or do a share and talk discussion if we finish the games early.

LEVEL:
*Intermediate, fast-paced
*Best learning experience for: Learners who understand spoken Cantonese in daily conversation
*Language use in class: Instruction will be given in Cantonese, with minimal support in English

Please note:
1/ This class focus in active engagement from learners. It offers ample opportunities for learners to speak Cantonese in a fun way and my role is to facilitate the game, provide immediate feedback and support to their oral skills in Cantonese. Every learner will be called upon for opinions and input.

2/ Materials: We will be using Cantonese and Traditional Chinese characters as class materials.

3/ Mute: Student might be asked to turn their mics off during part of the class for the best learning environment (i.e. to avoid background noise ). Everyone are encouraged to raise their hands to participate and share.

4/ As per Outschool safety policy adults are not allowed to be on camera; Only registered student can be on camera. Thanks for your understanding.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Becca.

I am a mom, a social worker, and a multi-award-winning author (of ‘The Story of Us’). I am passionate about supporting children in our proud heritage language, Cantonese.

Here, you can find my personal and educational background, as well as an overview of my fun classes.

My ultimate goal is to promote fun learning. I keep my classes very small so that full attention can be given to each learner.

I was born and grew up in Hong Kong. I am a native Cantonese speaker. I was lucky that my recent publication, a Cantonese-English-Jyutping Journal book has won in the Non-Fiction Young Adult category at the Independent Publisher Book (IPPY) Awards and in the Children’s Activity Books category at the National Indie Excellence Awards (NIEA).

I am a mother to my beautiful eight-year-old daughter, and we live in Canada. I know how challenging it is to encourage little ones to speak Cantonese, especially if Cantonese is the minority spoken language where you live. It adds an extra layer of complexity if you are not a native speaker or if only one parent speaks Cantonese.

Please do not hesitate to message me if there are any special learning needs. I hope you’ll join me on this fun learning adventure soon!

Thank you,
Becca
