Students need to have a basic understanding of crochet, how to hold a crochet hook, how to chain, single stitch and slip stitch. Day 1: 1: introduce the topic and go over the pattern 2: Start work on the head of the Seal 3: Finish and stuff the head and begin working on the body 4: Go over any final questions or concerns regarding the pattern and finishing of the Seals body. Day 2: 1: Finish the Seals body and attach the head. 2: Go over pattern for arms and tail pieces 3: begin working...
Students will improve on their single stitch, slip stitch skills. Students will also learn how to sew various pieces of a dolls body together while keeping everything symmetrical. Students will get a short introduction into embroidery for the noes and eyes.
At then end of each lesson, students will need to complete the pieces they didn't finish in class. Day 1: head and Body, Day 2: Tail and Arms/ Flippers, Day 3: Scarf and Day 4: Sewing everything together if they didn't finish in class.
Students will need: 1 yarn needle, 1 crochet hook size 4mm 4.5mm or 5mm (this is for the Seals body) , 1 crochet hook size 3mm 3.25mm or 3.75mm (this is for the hat and scarf) *Please pick one size hook from each size option* white or grey yarn: 1 skein/ ball medium weight size 4 yarn Hat and Scarf: 1 or 2 additional colors of yarn sport weight 2 medium to large buttons for eyes.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
