Class Experience

Sea turtles are charismatic animals that can spark provoking conversations and deep thinking in students about the roles humans can play in both threatening and protecting the environment. In this class, we will learn cool facts about sea turtles, why these animals are at risk, and what people are doing to protect them. Paloma will present the workshop using Kahoot, which includes fun trivia questions for kids to answer (see below for further information on using Kahoot). The workshop will include auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and verbal aspects to promote active learning. This is an interactive workshop where kids will be answering questions using Kahoot, participating in verbal discussions, and watching a short video clip. No prior knowledge needed to join this fun class.

Using Kahoot:
Kahoot is an interactive learning platform that can be accessed through a web browser on your laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. Kids will need to use this device to access www.kahoot.it, where they will be required to enter a Pin Code (provided at the beginning of the workshop). Kids will not be required to enter any private information aside from their first names. If preferred, students can enter an appropriate nickname. The second device or window is only required to answer questions. If your child does not have access to this, they can answer questions in a different way during the workshop (e.g. by unmuting themselves or typing in the chat).

Learning Goals

Students will have a greater appreciation for sea turtles and learn how they can help protect them.
