US Grade 2 - 5
This is an ongoing course that meets once a week. Students may join us at any time! Every week we will discuss two epic ocean predators. How strong is a megalodons bite? Will size triumph over poisonous creatures? Can a goblin shark really shoot its mouth outside of its body? We will answer these questions along with many others. We will discuss the animals habitats, behaviors, diets, and the adaptations they use to survive. This class will begin with an interactive presentation on each of the animals discussed. Students will brainstorm all of the things they already know about these creatures and all of the things they hope to learn in our class. Next, students will learn the strengths and weaknesses for both of the animals and the deep history of their species. Finally, the students will decide who they think would win in a battle between the two creatures. Together we will imagine what that battle may look like! Students will then decide where our animal goes on our tournament bracket for the ultimate ocean predator. 1. Week of July 24th: Giant Squid VS. Megalodon 2. Week of July 31st: Box Jellyfish VS. My classes are student centered and are adaptive to the group of students present in class. Students are welcome to bring their favorite stuffed animals, books, or animal toys to share with the class. Snacks are welcome too.
