================== 💜 Why this Class? 💜 ================== 🎓 This class is led by a licensed and certified teacher with 10 years of experience volunteering with and teaching PreK and Kindergarten students! 📒 This class includes a handout! The activity provided will be a great way for learners to show their grown-ups what they learned in class. This activity page is located in the Welcome Message in our Outschool classroom. You can take a picture of your student wearing their craft and share their completed art in your class review! 💪🏻 I bring ENERGY to every class so your learner will stay engaged and want to return for more! ================ CLASS OVERVIEW ================ In this class, your Preschool/Kindergarten learner will ideally be able to say and recognize the numbers 1-10, with experience in one-to-one correspondence (each item represents one number). If your student is still mastering these skills, this class can be tailored for learners to focus on their specific needs. Using fun props and puppets, engaging slides, and a hands-on approach to learning, students will identify numbers, show their understanding of one-to-one correspondence, and practice counting by 1's (starting at 1 and starting at other numbers and continuing the sequence). We will also begin decomposing (taking a number and breaking it into smaller parts) with numbers 1-5. This class includes a "make-your-own" coloring hat! This doubles as an in-class activity where we will count the number of sea animals and write the correct numeral together on our hats. Please be sure to print this handout beforehand and have it ready at the start of class, as we will be working on it together! ================= TEACHER MESSAGE ================= Thank you for taking the time to read about this class! I am excited to create a positive relationship with your learner and watch them grow! Teaching is my passion, and I can't wait to bring that energy to the classroom! ❤️ Ms. Vee
Learning Goals
K.CC.2 - Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
K.CC.4 - Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities and connect counting to cardinality.
K.CC.4a - When counting objects say the number names in the standard order pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
K.CC.4b - Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted
K.CC.4c - Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger
