Art Class Description: This is a fun and educational online art art class where students will explore the exciting world of sculpting with air-dry clay. I focus on fostering interaction and creativity, but never impose it on the students. Through live demonstrations and support, they will develop the necessary skills using the four S's - score, slip, squish, and smooth - to create their clay masterpieces. My goal is to inspire and encourage children to unleash their imaginations and complete their clay creations using proven techniques. Class Details: All interested students are welcome to join, and no prior experience is required. Demonstrations will be conducted using White Crayola air-dry clay. It's important to note that all creations will need 24-48 hours to dry. Once fully dried, white or neutral clay creations can be painted. Class Projects: Each class will focus on completing a unique air-dry clay creation. Here is the project for each class: Class 1: Pinch Pot animals Class 2: Coil cup or bowl Class 3: Slab Stars, Hearts, or another simple shape with your name or another word Class 4: Combine learned techniques to sculpt cute gnomes Learning Objectives: Demonstrate how to properly shape and mold clay into a pinch pot. Learn the importance of scoring and slipping to attach clay pieces together. Explore creativity in designing different animal shapes. Demonstrate the ability to roll out even coils of clay to build their sculptures. Discuss how to create different shapes and textures using the coil technique. Demonstrate how to roll out a flat slab of clay and manipulate it to create different forms. Demonstrate the ability to join different slabs together using scoring and slipping. Ability to incorporate texture and decoration into their sculptures. What You Need for Class: To fully participate in the class, students will need the following materials: Clay (Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Sculpey Air-Dry Clay) Clay Tools and Gadgets (toothpicks, small cookie cutters, wooden craft sticks, rulers, toothbrush, plastic knife/fork) Newspaper or scrap canvas pieces to cover your work surface Containers to store unused clay Water (shallow bowl or saucer to make slip for dipping fingers) Please make sure to prepare these materials beforehand to ensure a smooth and enjoyable class experience.
