Prerequisites: -Must know how to sign into Scratch, create a new project, share projects, and follow others. -Must be an official scratcher. -Must know how to make a Sprite move, add a backdrop, and be familiar with at least 3 other buttons on Scratch. This will be a 1.5 hour social time for Scratchers! Students will learn how to give positive feedback and how to respectfully critique other's projects. Students will also participate in debugging other's scripts in Scratch-a very useful tool for any students interested in a gaming-related or programming-related career. Mrs. Cardwell will monitor conversation and jump in when needed, however it is mainly based on student conversations. Students will develop social etiquette while having a fun time! Mrs. Cardwell strives to make every learner comfortable in this environment. I will never force someone to share their projects if they don't wish to.
Students are welcome, but not required, to communicate via the Outschool classroom for debugging help, sharing new projects, challenging each other, etc...
Access to scratch.mit.edu
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be encouraged to share their username on Scratch and share their projects. There are no private messaging features on Scratch, but you can follow other's and comment on their current projects.
