Class Experience

*Please note this class requires that your learner knows all the functionalities of Scratch Jr. Please test your learner to know all of their buttons.

If you need to go to my beginners course here is the listing for that:

https://outschool.com/classes/scratch-jr-beginning-to-code-ZmtNIPgS?sectionUid=401a0577-ee66-4210-8349-f7f4a52619e7&usid=EoeNQEjf&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

* Scratch Jr is different from Scratch. It lays a strong foundation for Scratch coding but it is a different software/interface.

In this class we will build a new Scratch Jr. project every time we meet.

The projects will vary from building working stories to building games.

Each class will start with the first 10 minutes focused on defining and explaining the challenge of the day. The next 20 minutes the builders will work on building their projects and the last 10 minutes will be reserved for sharing.

Scratch Jr. is a free MIT coding app that can be downloaded onto an iPad or a Chromebook. It is expected that the learner already knows the functionalities of Scratch Jr before taking this course.

The class runs better with the learner watching the class on one device and working on their Scratch Jr on the second device.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a homeschooling mom to three kids (ages 12,10 and 6) a girl scouts troop leader and a math and science enthusiast!

I have a Bachelors in Computer Science and a Masters in Management Information System. I worked in a software engineering firm till we decided to homeschool. I love to code and I love to create games! For my coding classes, I believe in teaching the critical thinking skills to make sure my learners are able to code themselves and not just copy!

My goal would always be to make sure each of my student is able to grasp the concepts fully therefore I will always have a small class size! I believe in differentiated learning which means targeting all sorts of learners- auditory, visual and kinesthetic.

I am qualified to teach Middle School Math. My goal is to teach math for real life application. My classes are very hands-on and interactive and I like to make math fun to learn. I love challenging math and can be found spending my free time solving a complicated math puzzle.

I am fluent in Urdu as well as English.
