Scratch Jr. Coding for Kids – Create Stories, Games & Animations (Level 1)
Completed by 542 learners
Ages 4-8
Live Group Course
Beginner-friendly Scratch Jr. coding course where young learners create stories, games, and animations while building problem-solving, sequencing, and creativity skills.
In this project-based course, young learners will explore coding fundamentals through Scratch Jr., a visual block-based platform designed for early childhood. Each week, students create a new project while developing problem-solving, sequencing, creativity, and early literacy skills.
What We Teach & Topics Covered:
Navigating the Scratch Jr. interface
Animating characters and adding backdrops
Using triggers, loops, and motion blocks
Adding speech, sound, and effects
Creating multi-page projects and interactive stories
Applying basic coding logic to games and animations
Class Structure:
Step-by-step live demonstration of tools and coding blocks
Learners build projects in real time with teacher guidance
Time for questions, discussion, and idea-sharing during each session
Showcase at the end of each class to celebrate creations
Teaching Style:
We use a fun, hands-on, and exploratory approach where coding is introduced as a creative tool for storytelling and play. Mistakes are encouraged as part of the learning process, and projects are adapted to each child’s pace and interest.
Learner Interaction:
Live teacher-led coding demonstrations
Guided practice with individual help when needed
Opportunities to present work to peers for encouragement and feedback
Short video clips or examples to spark creativity
Parent Note:
Please install Scratch Jr. (Android/iOS) from www.scratchjr.org before class. We recommend two devices—one for Zoom, one for coding—or we can guide learners to share their screen if needed. Younger learners may need parent assistance in the first session.
