Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Intermediate Level
This is a One of a Kind Coding Camp that includes Scratch and VEX Robotics πŸ‘¨β€πŸš€ , all in one camp. Discover the exciting world of virtual robot programming and artificial intelligence!

This is an INTERMEDIATE, coding and robotics πŸ€–project based summer camp for kids ages 8-13 who already have some experience using block coding. This is a great follow up to my one week, Beginners Code-a-thon. This class was designed as a transition from our beginner's class. Intermediate level coders who have not taken our classes before may be at different levels. πŸ’»

In each lesson, kids will make a new game or animation using step by step instructions provided by an experienced teacher and instructor.
____________________________________________________________
πŸ’» At the end of the week, kids will have a thorough understanding about how to code games using AI, how to code animations, make a basic platformer game, and program a cool virtual robot.

πŸ“– Learning Objectives~ After completing this course, students understand the following coding concepts in depth:
1. Event and motion blocks
2. Various types of Loops
3. Understand that with the loop function, fewer blocks are needed to achieve the same goal. Use of repeat loop and nested loop functions to reach a goal
4. Using conditionals and sensing blocks.
5. Writing code
6. Debugging code by fixing a sequence of code of adding missing code.

πŸ“† Syllabus
Day 1- Artificial Intelligence I- POKEMON Tennis (Basic AI concepts) * Early Intermediate level
Day 2- Working with booleans- Self driving car test track.
Day 3- Animations- Fireworks (timer, broadcast, loops, painting sprites) *Middle Intermediate Level
Day 4- Basic platformer (gravity, loops, conditionals, ceiling and wall detection, painting a sprite)
*Intermediate/Advanced level
Day 5- Virtual Robot programming - No physical robot necessary (functions, loops, algorithms, robotics) *Intermediate/Advanced level

*Teacher may change curriculum based on the experience level of the students in each group.

πŸ¦‰πŸ‘€ If your coder does not any experience on Scratch, please join our beginners Code-a-thon at:

IMPORTANT NOTES:πŸ€©πŸ’»πŸ€“
1. This is a challenging class for coders who already know some Scratch. Students must have experience on Scratch in order to keep up with the projects in this class.
3. Students need an account on Scratch with sharing ability. Please make sure that your child's account is verified prior to our first class.
4. Students will need two (2) devices. One will be used to view the class on Outschool and the other device will be needed to code. The second device must have a keyboard.
5. In order to keep the pace of the class, students must be on time every day πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ˜Ž. If we are too far ahead when a student enters, we may ask the student to stay as an observer and watch the video recording after class.
6. Teachers are not able to answer parent's questions via messages while teaching. Thanks for understanding.
7. As per Outschool Policy: For the safety of all participants, all cameras must be on for the first few minutes of the class session.
All students learn at a different pace, I will stop often during the class to ask questions and help students who need help to catch up. By the end of the week, many students will take initiative and move ahead as they develop their expertise using block coding.
