Students will be encouraged to enhance the game on their own as a post class assignment. I will give suggestions before they leave class.

Class Experience

In this introduction class, students will learn the basics of Scratch coding  and create a simple Pong game! This course is geared towards the beginner coder, and no experience with coding is necessary!. We will show how to use the different colored blocks to make your 'sprite' move across the screen. You will learn how to make the ball move randomly across the screen and contro; the paddles to hit the ball. You will learn how to create a variable to keep score. Prepare to have fun!!

**Parents, please make sure your child has signed up on the Scratch website before our class.  Also, your child should either have 2 screens available or know how to split the screen on one device. Please let me know if you need help. I want your child to be successful

Please note - a computer with a keyboard is necessary for this lesson

Parental Guidance
-Students should know how to have 2 windows open at a time, or have 2 screens available. - One window is for Zoom, the other is where they will create their Scratch program - A keyboard is necessary for this course -Please create an account for Scratch prior to class - www.scratch.mit.edu -Please note, class length may vary based upon the number of learners and their knowledge of scratch - Notice: Please be on time for class. It is not fair for learners that are on-time to have to stop and wait until a late arrival catches up. This can take a fair amount of time depending on the knowledge level of the learner. For this reason, I do not accept late arrivals. If you are late due to technical issues, email me and I will gladly transfer you to another class. I appreciate your understanding

My name is Dan Hartman. I am graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a BS Cs degree. I have over 30 years expertise as a software developer and 8 years as an elementary and middle school teacher.  I teach technology to students beginning in 1st grade through 8th grade. I also teach Scratch, Python, Javascript and more as electives to middle school.
