Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
In this engaging Scratch coding course, your child will embark on a hands-on journey to learn foundational coding concepts while creating their own games, animations, and interactive projects. The class is designed for beginners, with no prior coding experience required, and focuses on building creativity, problem-solving, and logical thinking through fun, interactive lessons.

How is the Class Structured?
Each class is structured around a fun project that introduces a key coding concept. The class begins with a brief lecture or demonstration on the topic, followed by a hands-on coding activity where students apply what they’ve learned by working on their projects. Each lesson ends with a Q&A session to address questions and give individualized support. As the course progresses, students will integrate all their skills into a final, comprehensive project.

How Will You Teach?
The class uses a blended learning approach with a mix of live instruction, demonstrations, and interactive coding exercises. I will guide students step-by-step through each project, providing real-time feedback and encouragement. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions, share ideas, and show off their creations. For each lesson, I’ll also show examples and walk through coding challenges, ensuring that each concept is clear and easy to understand.

What’s Your Teaching Style?
My teaching style is engaging, patient, and supportive, focused on building confidence in young learners. I believe in learning through play, so every lesson is designed to be both fun and educational. I encourage creativity and exploration, allowing students to experiment with their projects while helping them work through challenges and bugs. I provide a positive, nurturing environment where students can feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

How Much Will Learners Get to Interact with You?

Interactive Coding: Students will code alongside me, following along with live demonstrations and asking questions in real time.
Games & Activities: There will be opportunities for fun challenges, problem-solving games, and mini-coding contests where learners can show off their progress.
Feedback & Q&A: We encourage active participation during lessons, and students will have time to share their work and receive constructive feedback.
Peer Sharing: Students will be encouraged to share their projects with each other and engage in friendly collaboration.

Additional Information:

Materials Needed: A computer with internet access and a Scratch account (free) is required.
Duration: Each class is designed to be interactive, with plenty of time for students to complete activities and ask questions.
Final Project: By the end of the course, students will have created a fully functioning game or interactive animation, showcasing everything they’ve learned.
