In this fun and interactive one-time class, beginners will be introduced to the world of coding using Scratch! We’ll cover the basics of block-based programming by creating a simple project—like making a character move and respond to keyboard inputs. Topics we’ll cover: What Scratch is and how it works The building blocks of coding (loops, events, motion, sound) Hands-on practice creating an interactive animation or game

Learning Needs
This class is beginner-friendly and inclusive. I will provide step-by-step guidance, repeat concepts as needed, and check for understanding throughout the session.
Pre-Requisites
No prior coding experience required! Students should be able to use a keyboard and mouse or touchscreen device.
Supply List
We will use the official Scratch platform: https://scratch.mit.edu for all class activities. Learners will use the Scratch website during class, which requires a free account. The sign-up process is quick and simple—just an email address and username are needed. Parents are encouraged to help their child create the account before class by visiting https://scratch.mit.edu and clicking "Join Scratch" in the top-right corner. So a computer would be required with a stable internet connection from your end.

I hold a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and currently teach with Code Kids Robotics Ltd, where I introduce children to beginner-level coding. I have experience teaching Scratch to young learners in both group settings and one-on-one lessons.
