As an outdoor educator/adventure seeker, acquainting folks with these totally awesome creatures is an opportunity I cannot pass up. So, let's have some fun on the virtual trail.

Scorpions are venomous creatures found on all continents except Antarctica. Venom is used primarily to subdue prey. However, the scorpion will defend itself using it's venom to stop the threat. This action of envenomation can make the very thought of getting stung a little on the uncomfortable side for some who are sensitive to such thoughts or risks. At no time will this fact be used in a manner to frighten kids. I want to assure you as a parent myself that my job is to create a respect for wildlife, not fear. Information provided during class is used to instill an awareness and RESPECT, not fear, for desert critters.
