Don't worry, it keeps going! These classes are structured so that you can join at any time, as each session stands alone.

📌Class Format:

-	Each week, a new research lesson will be introduced, spanning across research design, data collection and analysis, and interpretation. Students will learn the foundations of scientific research and put what they’ve learned into practice. This approach prepares them for advanced studies in STEM fields.

- This is an ongoing class that meets once a week and offers a unique blend of theory and practice.

Here is the breakdown of class:

🕛Spark Session
During this session, students take turns sharing any scientific topics or questions they are excited to research. This part of class is intentionally designed to foster your child's development in scientific inquiry. It helps students build confidence in presenting their ideas and become familiar with diverse scientific perspectives.

🕛 Research Lesson (Proposed topics listed above)
Each week we will introduce a new research lesson connected to research methodology, problem solving or data analysis skills. During this time, I will explain the topic for the week using slides and presenting different research settings. Occasionally, I will use 2-3 minutes of video to illustrate what we're learning about, typically to show an experiment or a problem-solving situation that I can't demonstrate in my classroom.

🕛Learning by Doing (class activity)
Students will apply new knowledge through interactive activities. This could involve designing experiments, logic thinking or quiz where students will collaborate with each other, get instant feedback and reinforce the key concepts.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of our class activities:

🌳 Imagine you are a magical gardener in a mystical land, and you want to grow the tallest, healthiest plants as fast as you can. But you're not sure which type of music is their favorite. Is it the powerful beat of rock music, the catchy tunes of pop, the soothing sounds of classical, or perhaps they prefer peace and quiet?

What research method would you use to find out?
What are the important factors for making the decision?

🕛
After each class, I post a summary of what was taught in the classroom so that grown-ups can continue to support their learner’s understanding of the topic

📌What will your child learn?

Research Skill: Empowers learners with the foundations in theoretical research framework to investigate the world around them.

Critical Thinking: Evaluate information, form opinions, and make informed and data-driven decisions.

Problem Solving: Develop creative solutions to challenges using sound scientific research approaches

Data Analysis: Understand and interpret information effectively.

These skills are the building blocks for success in any academic or professional field.

📌Teaching & Learning Style

-I encourage students to ask lots of questions! As a scientist and clinician, I am happy to answer and share stories from my career.

- I break down complex concepts into simple, understandable terms, making it easier for students to grasp and apply them.

- I understand every student learns differently, so please reach out if there's anything I can do to enhance your child’s learning experience.
Learning Goals
Build a Strong Foundation in Research Methodology
Students will gain comprehensive knowledge of theoretical research frameworks, empowering them to design and conduct independent research projects that investigate and explore the world around them.
Develop Critical Thinking Skills
Students will evaluate diverse sources of information, critically analyze data, and form well-supported opinions, enabling them to make informed, data-driven decisions in both academic and real-world contexts.
