Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
In this 4 day class the kids will learn about different chemical reactions. Each meeting we will complete a safe chemistry experiment that shows different chemistry concepts. At the beginning of class, I will share my screen so the kids can view a slideshow while we discuss the experiment and the chemistry concepts. The kids and I will do the activities together step by step. They will be able to interact with me and each other during our class time by asking questions, etc.
There is a name badge PDF in the classroom that can be printed for your child to wear during our class.

Day 1-- We will learn about chemical reactions that make precipitates which are solids that form in a solution. We will use safe household items to do our chemistry activity. The kids will follow my directions so that we complete the activity together. After we have mixed our chemicals, we will discuss the chemistry concepts that are behind the reaction.

Day 2-- We will learn about reactions that produce heat. Safe household items will be used to complete this reaction. The kids will follow my directions to complete the activity together. Once we have completed our experiment, we will discuss the chemistry behind the reaction.

Day 3--We will learn about reactions that lower the temperature so that the product feels cold. We will use safe household items to do this activity. The kids will follow my directions to complete the activity together, and once we have finished the experiment, we will discuss the chemistry behind the reaction.

Day 4--
We will learn about acids and bases and make different solutions change color. The kids will pour a safe indicator into the different solutions to discover how acids and bases will change colors.

Supplies are listed in the supply list and in the classroom as a pdf. Please message me with any questions you may have about the class or the supplies.
