Class Experience

This class will be a slide based class with a few videos thrown in as we discuss the formation of the solar system. We will begin with the nebular theory and take slow steps through nebula formation, to the collapse, sun and planet formation, moon formation, asteroid and comet formation, and finally dwarf planet formation. 
Weekly Breakdown below

Week 1:
Planetary Science- branched from Astronomy 
Nebular theory
Nebula Formation- Also learning about Light-years
Formation of the Solar System- Learning the laws of physics

Week 2:
Protostar Formation 
Planet Formation- including accretion and planetesimals
The Two Types of Planets- Terrestrial and Jovian

Week 3:
Moons
Asteroids and Comets
Dwarf Planets
Kuiper Belt

Learning Goals

Students will improve their knowledge of our solar system beyond the general planet information and understand how the solar system formed from the beginning including our Sun, planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.
