Class Experience

In this course, students. will be learning about various instruments that can be used to measure the weather. Some examples that will be presented in class are thermometer, hygrometer, anemometer, barometer, rain gauge, and the wind vane. (4-5 minutes)

1. Students will be informed that each day theirs a different type of weather. Weather is are the conditions and temperature that is present outside. The teacher will show the different types of weather that cohabit on earth such as it is rainy, sunny, windy, and snowy. (4-5 minutes)

2. Next, I will introduce the definitions of temperature, precipitation, and climate to ensure a foundational understanding. (4-5 minutes)

3. I will introduce students to the first instrument which is the thermometer. It is an instrument used for measuring temperature.
(Measured in Celcius and parent Fahrenheit). (4-5 minutes)

4. The next tool that will be presented is an anemometer is a tool used to measure wind speed. Students will be shown a picture of an anemometer and of a meteorologist using it measure wind speed. Students will see a short video showing how to use it. (4-5 minutes)

5. The next tool that will be presented is a wind vane which is a tool used to measure the direction the wind is blowing. Students will see a picture of the wind vane in action. (4-5 minutes)

8. Students will be informed that the people who use these tools are are meteorologists. The use of a combination of science, research, and data to identify the weather. (4-5 minutes)

9. Students will play a jeopardy game in which the definitions or pictures of the tools will be presented. Students will get points for answering the questions correctly. (4-5 minutes)

Learning Goals

In this course, students. will be learning about various instruments that can be used to measure the weather. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and know the uses as well as a visual representation of each instrument used by a meteorologist: thermometer, hygrometer, anemometer, barometer, rain gauge, and the wind vane.
