In this one-time class, learners will join Teacher Jolene for a read-aloud of Giant Pacific Octopus by Leon Gray. Teacher Jolene will help lead through this non-fiction book about octopus with discussion, a circle (schema) and tree map (can; have; are), a direct draw, and simple writing. Learners will be asked to share their direct drawing and writing with Teacher Jolene. Class will conclude by singing an octopus song and/or chant and enjoying a favorite snack (provided by learner’s family).
Learning Goals
Learners will help create a circle & tree map about the pacific octopus; construct a direct draw of an octopus; complete a simple writing about octopi; participate in discussions; and enjoy a favorite snack while singing a few songs!
